Wisconsin could be the spark of resurgent labor union activity

Labor relations is in the news in a big way right now, all across the country thanks to the issues surrounding public employee unions and collective bargaining rights, especially in Wisconsin.  We may be seeing the greatest grassroots resurgence for labor unions in my lifetime.   I don’t know if it will last, but it is huge right now.  Take a look at the video below for an example of what I mean.

It seems as if my posting on the information resources I use to keep up with the flow of information surrounding the field of labor relations was quite timely, and useful.  I had a great response to yesterday’s post, including pointing out some resources that I failed to include.  I promised to rememdy that for them, so here is my list of 10 more great labor relations resources for HR practitioners, and other managers to use in keeping up with what is going on in the wild, wacky world of labor relations.
My buddy Walter Orechwa runs Projections Inc., one of the top employer communication companies in the United States.   They are based in Atlanta, and have complete video production capability right in their own shop.  I strongly recommend you check them out if you are in the market for any sort of workplace video services.   Walter also has a corporate blog where he shares timely information about unions and labor relations trends.
Here are some other excellent sites for labor relations information that I follow on a regular basis.    I am collecting these sites and will be creating a listing/e-book of labor realtion resources availlable on line.   If you have recommendations for other sites, or would like to be included, please be sure to include your information in the comments section.
The law firm Proskauer Rose offers advice on legal changes in their Labor Relations Update newsletter.
The Cabot Institute for Labor Relations  is a good resource for inforamtion.  They also offer a blog from Stephen Cabot.
Other sites worth checking out include The Employer Law ReportLabor Relations Counselor from Littler, Watkins Wire from Watkins Meegan,  Vorys on Labor, the Huntoon Labor Blog, and  Confessions of a union organizer  from Permanent Solutions Labor Consultants, Inc.
Finally, I want to point out an excellent site for all manner of employment related topics, including labor relations.   That would be the Employment Policy Research Network, which was pointed out to me by Dr. Thomas Kochan, who was recently featured along with yours truly on HR Happy Hour.
According to their web site blurb, EPRN was launched in early 2011, and is a non-profit, non-partisan organizaton located and administered at the offices of the Labor and Employment Research Association (LERA) at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign School of Labor and Employment Relations.    This is a great new resource for HR professionals.   Be sure to check it out.

When going to a SHRM session, I obtained a set of slides about talent management/success planning that I found very useful for the HR Professional.
